Operations Center Czech Republic (CZOPC) in Ostrava is the European engineering center for ABB's Process Automation Division. We are around 100 employees who are providing engineering services for ABB business units in the different European countries, mainly Norway, Germany, Switzerland, Finland and Sweden. Our disciplines are SW development, automation software, IT systems and security, LV hardware, drives and electrical engineering. We have a highly qualified and stable work force, with interesting and challenging work for our internal ABB customers.

What is this job about?
As a drive engineer in CZOPC you will be responsible for detailed engineering of drive systems using MV/LV products from ABB and external suppliers. You will also be involved in internal testing, FATs and sometimes go to end customers site for installation supervision. In addition you will provide technical support to end-customer and commissioning engineers during commissioning phase. Our customers deliver drive packages to metal, pulp and paper and petrochemical factories, mining industry, oil and gas platforms, ships etc., based on ABB MV drives ACS6000, ABB LV drives ACS800, ABB STADT drives etc. You will mainly work from Ostrava, with business trips to customers and suppliers as required.

Responsibilities
• Design, specification and documentation of drive system according to requirements, incl. transformers, motors and interface between ABB systems and external systems
• System studies (total harmonics distortion (THD) analysis
• Assist in preparing technical part of quotations for factories
• Technical clarification with factories and end customers
• Attending FATs
• Support during commissioning on end customer site
• Participate proactively in project teams
• Contribute with creative ideas in order to develop solutions that keeps pace with technology and market trends
• Produce technical documentation in accordance with ABB’s and end-customers’ requirements
